Each state has its own state CME requirements to fulfill – some depend on the amount of CME you earn, others center more on your educational hours. It can be hard to keep track. For both Alabama MD and DO physicians, you’ll need to fulfill the following:

  • “25 hours per year; all must be AMA PRA Category 1. Effective January 1, 2018, all Alabama Controlled Substance Certificate (ACSC) holders must complete 2 AMA Category 1 CME hours every 2 years in the area of controlled substance prescribing practices, recognizing signs of the abuse or misuse of controlled substances, or controlled substance prescribing for chronic pain.” – FSMB
  • CME Credits Required: 25
  • Term(Years): 1
  • AMA PRA Category 1 Credit(s)™ required: 25
  • Required Topics: 2 credits every 2 year controlled substances
